In keeping with tradition, this year’s special showcase at art KARLSRUHE is dedicated to a prime example of the buzzing collector scene in Baden-Württemberg.
Reduced forms, materials such as metal or mirror surfaces and monochromes in white, silver, and blue are characteristic features of many of the works that the Swabian entrepreneur Peter Schaufler, senator h. c., and his wife Christiane Schaufler-Münch have brought together in more than three decades.
The husband and wife team Schaufler put their collection, comprising over 3500 exhibits with a focus on works from the ZERO movement, minimal art, conceptual art, and Concrete Art, on show in SCHAUWERK, their private museum. For art KARLSRUHE, SCHAUWERK director Barbara Bergmann is putting some 30 exemplary key works of the collection, amongst them works by Sylvie Fleury, Imi Knoebel, Thomas Ruff, and Ugo Rondinone, on display under the motto of “Some like it cool”.
