Contemporary art: a mirror of the times, a space for visions

Contemporary art is more diverse and global than ever before. It responds to social upheavals, technological developments and personal experiences – critically, playfully, politically or poetically. Boundaries between disciplines are blurring, new media and forms of expression are emerging.

Contemporary artists observe, provoke, inspire – and challenge us to engage in dialogue about today's world. The focus is on topics such as identity, sustainability, digitalisation and social justice.

Contemporary art plays a central role at art karlsruhe – it is represented in all halls and enters into an exciting dialogue with modern positions and post-war works in Halls 1 and 2.
