Fair information

art karlsruhe 2027 will take place from 18 February to 21 February 2027 at the Messe Karlsruhe (Messeallee 1, 76287 Rheinstetten). The VIP Preview will take place on 17 February 2027.

Wednesday, 17 February 2027 1.00 pm-8.00 pm

Thursday, 18 February 2027 11.00 am-7.00 pm

Friday, 19 February 2027 11.00 am-7.00 pm

Saturday, 20 February 2027 11.00 am-7.00 pm

Sunday, 21 February 2027 11.00 am-6.00 pm

art karlsruhe is an international art fair for Classical Modernism, post-war and contemporary art, as well as contemporary programmes.

one:artist show

The one:artist shows have been part of the art karlsruhe concept since 2007. On an area of at least 25 square metres, exhibiting galleries present the body of work of a particular artist. The one:artist show therefore provides a focused and in-depth look at an individual artistic practice.

re:discover

The re:discover support programme has been part of art karlsruhe’s programme since 2024. With the support of the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media (BKM), its aim is to bring under-recognised artistic work to the attention of the public. The focus is particularly on artists who, despite the quality of their work and their consistent output, have not achieved national or international visibility and recognition.

re:frame

The re:frame format builds on re:discover. Unlike the artists who are still active and presented through the re:discover programme, re:frame focuses on the management of artists’ estates, presents best-practice examples and stimulates discussion on this topic.

new:comer

The new:comer format is designed to support young galleries established in 2023 or later and with fewer than three previous participations in art karlsruhe. The aim is to facilitate their first presentations in Karlsruhe and encourage their long-term return to the venue.

If you like a work of art at art karlsruhe, you can approach the gallery representatives in person at any time. From 1 December 2026, the contact details of participating galleries will also be available via the art karlsruhe 2027 gallery list and exhibitor database.

Sales are handled directly by the respective gallery.

There is a wide range of prices for works of art at art karlsruhe. Whether you are an experienced collector or just starting your own collection, art karlsruhe offers something for everyone. We encourage you to approach the galleries directly at the fair and enquire about prices.

The sculpture:squares have been an integral part of the art karlsruhe exhibition landscape since the fair was founded. They form open spaces between the gallery stands and create a dialogue between them and large-scale sculptural statements. Since 2018, the Loth Sculpture Prize, sponsored by L-Bank, has been awarded for the best sculptural presentation.

The sculpture:spots are smaller-scale presentations that offer participating galleries the opportunity to create accents outside the halls, in the corridors of the exhibition centre. With no traditional stand boundaries, the sculpture:spots give the sculptures the space they deserve. Together with the sculpture:garden in the atrium of the exhibition centre, the Vollack Group enables visitors to experience three-dimensional works outside the exhibition halls.

Hall 3 at art karlsruhe is characterised by a diverse programme of events and the Forum Karlsruhe. Regional and national cultural institutions, art academies and museums in the city have the opportunity to present themselves to the fair’s visitors. In addition, the paper:square, start:block and academy:square offer new formats that are particularly suitable for those starting to collect art.

IT’S A MATCH! Art connects Baden-Württemberg

One of the highlights of art karlsruhe 2027 will be the special exhibition IT’S A MATCH! Art Connects Baden-Württemberg, which brings together all of Baden-Württemberg’s major private collections. The event serves as a preview for a joint exhibition project scheduled for fall 2027 at the SCHAUWERK Sindelfingen. In addition to showcasing high caliber works of art, the exhibition will focus above all on the unifying spirit that arises from cooperation, exchange, and long-term commitment.

paper:square

The paper:square in Hall 3 offers exhibiting galleries the opportunity to present works using and on paper outside their own stands. Many major contemporary private art collections began with prints, editions or drawings on paper. The paper:square is designed to help visitors to art karlsruhe start collecting art or gain access to art collecting.

start:block

The start:block in Hall 3 builds on the concept of the paper:square. Here, art karlsruhe specifically asks its exhibitors which work from their programme might be particularly suitable as a starting point for collecting. It therefore presents specific recommendations from the galleries at art karlsruhe - accessible, varied and carefully selected.

academy:square by LBBW

The academy:square at art karlsruhe is a support programme run by art karlsruhe since 2024. It gives students at the three major art academies in Baden-Württemberg-the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design, the State Academy of Fine Arts Karlsruhe and the State Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart-the opportunity to present their work to the market and gain initial experience in the art market. Six students and graduates from each of the participating institutions present a selection of their work, linking young art with the entry-level collecting initiatives paper:square and start:block. Since 2026, the best presentation has received the LBBW academy:square award.
